The Netsys Single Strand Fiber Media Converter Kit (NM-102KIT) includes the NM-102A20 & NM-102B20 100Base-TX Copper to 100Base-FX Fiber Media Converters and provides a point-to-point Ethernet network extension up to 1.2 miles (2Km) using a single strand of Multimode Fiber or up to 12 miles (20Km) using a single strand of Single Mode Fiber.
The Single Strand Fiber Media Converter Kit is simple to install and use. The NM-102A20 Converter is typically located in the Central Office, Computer Room, or Wiring Closet and its RJ-45 Ethernet port connects to a router or switch and its SC fiber port connects directly to the single strand of multimode or single mode fiber or with a fiber patch cable (not provided). The single strand of multimode fiber can extend up to 1.2 miles (2Km) and single mode fiber can extend up to 12 miles (20Km) to the remote device location. The NM-102B20 Converter is placed at the remote location and connected to the single strand fiber and the Ethernet port of the remote network device (NIC, router, switch, etc.). Last, the NM-102A20 and NM-102B20 Converters are connected to the AC power source and the link is established automatically on power up.
The NM-120 Converters automatically adapt to the highest level of performance supported by the device connected to the Ethernet port. When the connected device supports full duplex, the converters adapt to full-duplex mode and provide an effective bandwidth of 200Mbps. When the connected device supports only half duplex, the converters adapt to half-duplex mode and provide a nominal bandwidth of 100Mbps. The fiber-optic interfaces operate at 1310nm and use WDM fiber transceivers with SC connectors.
The Netsys Single Strand Fiber Media Converter Kit greatly reduces the cost of installation by utilizing a single strand of multimode or single mode fiber and can be used to connect any Ethernet based device at distances up to 1.2 miles using multimode fiber and up to 12 miles (20Km) using single mode fiber.
